![]() dayHighlight - Image number to show on left side of theme preview thumbnail.imageCredits (required) - String containing the name of the person or company that the images should be credited to (e.g., Apple, Bob Ross).imageFilename (required) - String containing the filename of each wallpaper image, with an asterisk ( *) substituted for the image number (e.g., mojave_dynamic_*.jpeg).If not present, the theme name will be derived from the JSON filename. displayName - String containing the user friendly name of the theme (can contain spaces). The following properties can be defined in a theme file: "imageFilename": "Big_Sur_Abstract_*.jpg ", Here are some sample theme files to show their format: 4-segment theme json extension (e.g., Mojave_Desert.json). The name of the JSON file must be the name of the theme, with any spaces replaced by underscores, plus the. A nice online editor for JSON is available here, which validates the file as you type it. ![]() Theme files use the JSON format, which is human readable and easy to write. They should all be in the same folder, or they can also be bundled in a ZIP file and uploaded to the Internet if you want to make your theme publicly available. You can easily convert them to JPEG format with this online image converter.Įach of the images you want to use in your theme must have the same filename, except for a number to distinguish them (e.g., mojave_dynamic_1.jpeg, mojave_dynamic_2.jpeg. If you want to use a set of HEIC images (the format used by macOS for dynamic wallpapers), they need to be converted to a different format because HEIC is not natively supported by Windows. The images used by your theme can be any file format that is standard for Windows (JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, etc.). If you want to use a different set of wallpaper images, follow the instructions below to create your own custom theme. Also there's a linux plugin for GIMP that allows opening HEIC files, but in the case of collections, it asks you to choose which image to open and does not allow for the exporting of multi-image collections (at least for now).WinDynamicDesktop includes the macOS dynamic desktop themes by default, and you can download community created themes here. Also I've yet to find if there is something in the EXIF data of that particular wallpaper that tells MacOS which wallpaper to display when, or if the system is just expecting exactly 16 images and displays them in order. I built the libde265 tools on ubuntu, not MacOS. I'm still struggling with it to get it to work the way I want, but that should theoretically allow very similarly packaged images to be created.ĮDIT: Just wanted to clarify a couple of things. However, I have found a tool that is part of the libde265 library called heif-enc that allows such encoding via a command line interface. Currently, there is no software that I can find for the Mac that allows for the encoding of these multi-image HEIC files (collections, as they are technically called). The HEIC file in question contains 16 images that allow the wallpaper to change throughout the day. This container allows multiple HEIF-encoded images to be contained within one container. The HEIC format is a container for HEIF or High Efficiency Encoding Format.
